DSC05615THOMAS SIGN CREATIONS IS AWARDED THE CONTRACT FOR A 6,000 SQUARE FOOT PHOTOMURAL FRAME AND GRAPHIC FOR THE GRAND HALL AT THE NASCAR HALL OF FAME
Thomas Sign Creations will be building a Matrix Frame that spans almost 400 feet around the curved wall in the Grand Hall, which sits above the high banked race track inside the Hall of Fame.  It will be 30 feet high on the left side and only about 3 feet high on the right as it climbs up the wall staying in line with the bank of the track.  We will use almost 1,000 feet of Matrix Frame to create the radius framework and install it off of an articulating boom lift.  The wall also tilts out 10 degrees, adding to the fun.  Every cut going up the sloped wall will be a compound miter to create the gradual slope and radius at the same time.The Artistri print is being done on an acoustical fabric to give them the NRC (Noise Reduction Code) rating of .85 that they require in this area.  The graphic itself will be almost 6,000 square feet and will be printed in three 10 foot high pieces and sewn together to become a one-piece graphic that will weigh about 450 pounds. We will begin cutting and installing all of the framework in September, but NASCAR does not want the graphic installed until January of 2010.  When we install the graphic, we will put the slightly oversized printed and sewn graphic in place, mark the bottom and right hand edges, cut it to finished size and sew in the remaining silicone on site and reinstall the finished piece.  At that point, we will cover it in plastic for protection and unveil it just before the Grand Opening in May of 2010. The owners of the building, architects, graphic designers, general contractors and City of Charlotte representatives all came to the shop at Thomas Sign Creations a couple of weeks ago  to view the 10′ x 20′ mock up that we built to go over final details.
